ARe you gonna watch any UFA games this year and/or attend any alleycat games to see if they are gonna run your offense?

Not planning on it.

They can't really run my offense, per se. I developed the hex offense in 1986 on a drive up to Chico, CA for tournament (which we won with this new offense). By 1989, the team I was on was divided on the direction I was taking the hex, so we disbanded and I started my new team, focused on the new bi-product of the hex, which was dribbling. Over the years, dribbling evolved into shredding so what had been the initial framework for the O (the basic 2-3-2 'hex' formation took an enormous back seat to the system that it birthed, Shredding. Over time, the 2-3-2 became irrelevant to the entire concept of shredding and the implantation (and implications) of the Triple Threat Principle.

I published the framework for the 2-3-2 in the early 2000s on my z-boyz website and Felix made "his" hex offense based on my work. When Tim Held asked me to teach his organization Shredding, Drew Shepherd thought he would be clever and just circumvent me and go to Hive. I ran two sessions with the AlleyCats (once in November at ShredFest III and again in Nashville with AlleyCats tryouts), so Drew would be familiar with some of my drills and methodology for how I coach, but in neither event did we really get to shredding. We were more on the bunny slopes whereas Shredding is Double Black Diamond, Kyrie Irving level handles, footwork and cadence.

It's obviously disappointing that Tim Held reneged on his written agreement for me to teach his team Shredding. Maybe some other team will watch the AlleyCats this year and be intrigued enough to have me coach them next year. The sad thing for me, is that at 64 years old, I'm sure I could have dominated in the UFA league this year, with a full squad of players surrounding me who knew my system. At one point. Held literally asked me to coach the AlleyCats Felix's offense. "Sorry Frank, everything you told me that Drew was doing behind my back all along turned out to be true. You were right. But it's too late to do anything about this now, so can you at least teach us Felix's offense?".

You can't make this shit up. There would be no Hex, no Hive, no motion offense [without me] and I get completely fucked over, yet again.

It's beyond heart breaking. More like soul crushing. After waiting literally 40 years for a franchise owner like Tim Held to come along and have the vision and leadership to ask me to coach his team, only to be completely undermined by Drew Shepherd was just astonishing. Especially in light of the fact that I kept informing Tim what Drew was doing (I brought the receipts too, emails, texts, etc.) to demonstrably prove Drew's blatant insubordination. Tim agrees that the fucked this up, he has stated that had he to do this over again that he would do things differently (to make sure this worked and that I would teach the team Shredding) and to this day he still wants me to teach his team Shredding but he's in utter denial about what is happening. He still believes the he put me in a position to succeed when it's plain as day that there was no way in HELL that Drew was ever going to allow me anywhere near his team. In Tim's written offer, I was to coach the team's first Super Practice Weekend this year, and that simply never happened.

Tim knew who I was and what I was about, but he couldn't accept the fact that his own organization was filled with the same closed minded bigotry that permeates the entire culture.

The whole thing is disgusting. Shepherd is clearly a prejudiced bigot who was unbelievably insubordinate to Held and did whatever he wanted in spite of what his boss asked for and wanted. What they'll be running will be closer to Hex offense.

Whoever you are, if you're interested in engaging in a video conversation about the whole thing, and making it publicly available online, I'm game.

It's just not right.

You don't treat people this way.

In a game based on the honor system, this is to me, clearly the most dishonorable thing that has ever happened in the history of Ultimate.

Where is the UFA on this? Where is UltiWorld? Where are all the social justice warriors decrying this blatant injustice. The ultimate community, at the end of the day, is made up of a huge bunch of hypocrites. It's not that I'm a fan of Sprit of The Game, I'm not. But you can't have an entire sport, culture and community built on top of honor, mutual respect and decency and sit back and be OK with this.

Even people who hate me knows how fucked up this is. It's just not right.

It's one thing to tell me to fuck off. But to tell me to fuck off and then still run my offense is the ugliest thing Ultimate Frisbee has ever seen. It's a fucking disgrace and everyone knows it is.

Frank, I actually developed the hex offense in 1984. Quit taking credit for my work.
